Large Carved Wood Sundial Base - Vintage, Architectural Salvage From India, One of a kind (NG623_110)
SOLD OUT
Beautiful vintage hand carved wood plinth once served as the base of a column in an Indian home. It will make a wonderful base for a sundial. The wood block features ornamental elements that were beautifully hand chiseled by a craftsmen. The age is at least 50 years old.
Since this is a repurposed base, the sundial will simply rest on the base and not attach like our other stands. If you have a Rome sundial with a bracket in the center of the dial, the bracket will rest inside the hole in the center of the wood base.
We found this ornamental wood plinth on a trip to the Indian desert state of Rajasthan where I work with people who specialize in recovering visually and historically interesting elements from homes and buildings that are torn down.
This is a one of a kind piece and has some beautiful detailing. You'll see on our photos that we show all 4 sides, so you can get a better idea as to the detailing and condition of the wood.
