Wood Horizontal Sundial w/Base (#2182)
A primitive modern sensibility is found in this unique dial with matching base. Crafted using sustainably harvested mango wood that is pre-mounted to a steel pedestal for ready placement in the garden. Overall height with base is 35”. The wood of the sundial is 10” x 10” and 3” thick. Made in a desert city in Rajasthan, India where wood and iron craftsmanship goes back thousands of years.
The mango wood is stained and will continue to age with color changes. You may want to apply a penetrating wood oil finish annually. The steel will develop a rust finish over time or you may apply a clear coat lacquer as needed. Scewing the gnomon to the sundial is the only assembly required and that is done without any tools.
